Spencer began working in public practice after earning his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Vancouver Island University in the spring of 2009. After completing the Chartered Accountants School of Business, Spencer was admitted into the BC Institute of Chartered Accountants in May 2012. In the fall of 2012, Spencer passed the International Qualification Exam to become a Certified Public Accountant of the United States and is a licensed US tax return preparer. In addition, Spencer is a Certified Acceptance Agent who can assist US taxpayers in obtaining a US Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).
Born and raised in Port Alberni, Spencer now enjoys living in Nanaimo and working as a partner of a Chartered Professional Accounting firm that gives him the opportunity to work in many areas of the profession. In his years of public practice, Spencer has been involved in many audit and review engagements in addition to preparing numerous Canadian and US personal and corporate tax returns. Spencer frequently attends various professional development courses to remain current on the ever changing Canadian and US tax laws. Spencer’s most enjoyable aspect of the profession is working closely with clients to help them achieve their goals.
In his spare time, Spencer enjoys hockey, basketball, swimming and golfing. He also spends time camping and exploring the beautiful outdoors of Vancouver Island.
Brian is a partner and Business Advisor who brings more than 20 years of experience in providing quality tax, accounting and consulting services to a diverse range of owner-managed businesses in the Nanaimo and surrounding communities.
Brian has considerable experience in corporate reorganizations, succession planning, family trusts, buying and selling of a business, business valuations, and corporate and personal tax planning. He takes pride in his ability to harness the knowledge from all these disciplines to best meet the needs of his clients.
Brian believes that “it’s the people that count”, therefore it’s important to him that his clients understand all their options. In so doing, they can best achieve their short-term and long-term financial objectives.
Brian has been a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for a small airline/tourism company, a real estate company, and is currently a part-time CFO for a publicly traded junior mining company. Aside from his passion for Mexico, Brian appreciates the simple things in life, such as; family, home renovations, walking our local parks, self-improvement projects and exploring our beautiful islands.
Irene began working in public practice in Nanaimo in 1987 and received the designation Certified General Accountant in 1992.
Irene has in-depth knowledge in all areas of personal income tax and manages the personal income tax part of the office. She oversees the systems and training to ensure optimum efficiency in the personal income tax season. She is experienced in communicating with Canada Revenue Agency on behalf of clients regarding personal income tax assessments.
Irene assists owner-managed small to medium size businesses in a diverse range of industries. This includes providing corporate clients with financial statements, corporate income tax returns and personal tax planning for business owners and individuals.
She attends professional development courses that enhance her knowledge to serve our clients. Irene strives to achieve a high standard of service for personal and corporate income tax clients.
Besides working diligently for our clients, Irene believes that a balanced life is essential and makes time for camping with her family, ice-skating, yoga, knitting, sewing and vegetable gardening.
